The M. A. Chidambaram Stadium is a popular stadium in Chennai. The stadium is named after the ex- President of BCCI and the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, Mr. M. A. Chidambaram. The stadium is popularly recognized as Madras Cricket Club Ground or Chepauk Stadium. The stadium hosted its first match on 10 February 1934. The stadium was constructed by the East Coast Constructions and Industries.

Indian cricket team won their first Test match against England in M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in the year 1952. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association is sorting out a way along with the association with Hopkins Architects thereby increasing the capacity, providing supplementary corporate box, providing air-conditioned accommodation and maintaining roof shading.

  1. The highest test score at the ground was scored by Virender Sehwag with about 319 points against South Africa.
  2. The highest score on the ground was made by Saeed Anwar with about 194 points against India.

SDAT Tennis Stadium is famous as Nungambakkam Tennis Stadium that is ideally situated in Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The Chennai Open ATP Tennis championships are generally hosted every year during the first week of January.

Velachery Aquatic Complex (Chennai) is one of the well known Velachery Aquatic Complex stadiums in Chennai. The stadium can accommodate about 4,000 people. It hosts several water sports. It is an ideal venue for the 1995 South Asian Games. Velachery Aquatic Complex is ideally located near Ashram School.

Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium is a well recognized National Hockey Stadium in India. Mayor Radhakrishnan stadium is ideally located near Egmore Railway Station.

Recently there has been news wherein a new state-of-the-art cricket stadium would be established at Karunkuzhipallam almost about 25 km from Chennai. The stadium would accommodate about 50,000 to 60,000 spectators at one go.
